Technical SEO audit
A technical SEO audit your team can put to work.
Find out which technical issues deserve attention and what your team needs to address them. Indexwell investigates your website, documents the evidence, and turns the findings into developer requirements and a prioritized roadmap for search and AI discoverability.
Starting at $2,999 · One-time engagement
What your team gets
A set of editable documents your team can use to create tickets, plan releases, and check the work. Each recommendation connects a technical finding to a proposed change and the reason it matters.
A clear assessment of the site
An overview of the important findings, the pages or templates affected, and what the evidence supports. We explain the implications for search and AI discoverability, what is working as intended, and which questions need further investigation.
Recommendations your developers can work from
Documented issues with supporting examples, proposed changes, relevant dependencies, and acceptance criteria. Your team can understand the request, assess the effort, and plan how to verify the implementation.
Priorities with a reason behind them
A recommended order of work based on business importance, the extent of each issue, the strength of the evidence, and implementation dependencies. We explain what needs attention soon, what belongs in a larger project, and what can wait.
A working handoff
A walkthrough with your stakeholders to discuss the findings, challenge assumptions, and decide how to take the work forward. The engagement includes a defined window for follow-up questions, and your team keeps the deliverables.
What a recommendation looks like
Product pages change their canonical URL after rendering
Finding
On the tested product pages, the original HTML identifies each product URL as canonical. After rendering, the canonical points to the homepage.
Evidence
The tested URLs, original HTML, rendered HTML, and reproduction steps show where the values differ. Engineering still needs to confirm which part of the template or rendering process causes the change.
Recommended change
Keep the intended canonical consistent through rendering. Preserve deliberate rules for duplicate or variant URLs.
Priority
Confirm how widely the issue occurs and whether it affects important product pages. Use that evidence to set the priority.
Acceptance criteria
On the tested page types, the original and rendered canonical values match the intended destination. That destination is reachable and intended to be indexable. Documented exceptions continue to behave as expected.
Illustrative example, not a client result. Acceptance criteria describe how a future fix can be checked. Post-release validation is separate unless included in your proposal.
How the audit works
Define the questions and scope
We start with what prompted the audit and the decisions your team needs to make. We agree the site areas, required access, deliverables, fee, and schedule before work begins.
Build the baseline
We review available search data, site history, known issues, and development plans. This gives us context for the investigation and helps identify the pages, templates, and systems that deserve closer attention.
Investigate and test the findings
We examine the agreed areas, reproduce important issues, and look for patterns across templates and page types. We connect related findings and distinguish confirmed behavior from suspected causes or gaps in the evidence.
Set priorities and define the work
We turn supported findings into recommended changes, then organize the work around likely impact, confidence, dependencies, and your team’s constraints. Search and AI discoverability findings feed into one roadmap, with the reasoning behind each priority.
Work through the plan together
We walk through the assessment and recommendations with your team, discuss implementation questions, and clarify the next steps. The agreed follow-up window gives you time to review the documents and raise questions after the session.
The technical foundation behind search and AI discoverability
We examine how your site makes pages discoverable, accessible, and understandable. Depending on the site, that includes internal linking, crawler permissions, indexing and canonical signals, JavaScript rendering, page templates, semantic HTML, metadata, structured data, and performance.
Technical AI discoverability is included in the assessment. We consider the shared foundation and the access or content-delivery requirements of relevant AI platforms, with findings brought into the same roadmap.
Coverage follows your site's size, structure, and business needs. Ecommerce, international, and other specialist requirements are agreed before the project starts. The assessment records where we used samples, lacked access, or left areas outside the scope.
When an audit is the right next step
This is a good fit when important pages aren't being indexed as expected, technical questions remain after site changes, or your team needs an independent view before committing development time.
It works best when you have a team or development partner who can act on the recommendations. If the work centers on one isolated issue, an upcoming migration, or ongoing support, we can discuss an engagement that fits those needs.
What to expect
A one-time project starting at $2,999
We confirm the scope, schedule, and final fee before work begins. Site size, technical complexity, and specialist requirements determine the depth of the engagement.
Input from the people closest to the site
We ask for relevant search data, site history, known issues, and an implementation contact. Read-only access or agreed exports are used where suitable. Your team provides the context that helps us interpret the findings and make useful recommendations.
Findings you can assess
The audit explains what we observed, how we tested it, and where uncertainty remains. Recommendations follow the evidence. Rankings, traffic, revenue, and inclusion in search results or AI answers cannot be guaranteed.
A plan your team can take forward
Your team or development partner implements the recommendations. You keep the documents and can work through the roadmap internally. Further Indexwell support for post-release validation or ongoing consulting is scoped separately.
